5 Commonly Asked Skincare Questions

We are skincare experts, but we don’t expect everyone else to be. During appointments, we find a lot of the same questions seem to crop up, so we thought we would jot a few down for you.

What are the most important parts of a skincare routine?

All of it! It’s so hard to pick small things as it’s all so important, but I guess the number one essential has to be your SPF. It not only helps prevent ageing, it also performs the most important job of all, and that is protecting you from cancer.

Is expensive salon skincare really worth it?

Yes, yes and yes again! When you go into a high street store to choose a moisturiser, you might get to pick from something for oily, dry or combination skin, but it’s all pretty generic. Our skincare is so intensive that we actually offer a prescribed skincare service. That means we can examine your skin in detail and recommend the exact products that will benefit your skin.

Some of the products might seem a bit on the pricey side, but they are actually jam-packed with amazing ingredients, meaning you only need a tiny amount. The over-the-counter stuff you buy elsewhere has a lot of filler in it that doesn’t do much so you need to use quite a lot. By ony needing a fraction of that amount, our professional products actually go a lot further.

How can I avoid wrinkles?

If I had the answer to eternal youth I’d be a very rich woman. The best advice I can give is to stay out of the sun, drink plenty of water and care for your skin with all the right products. If you don’t know what they are, pop in and see me.

What’s the best way to handle sensitive skin?

With kid gloves! Sensitive skin is easily irritated, so don’t use anything too harsh and try to seek out stuff that has been specially designed for your skin.

How do I find out my skin type?

If you look at skincare products and find yourself wondering whether you’re normal or combination, then you’re not alone.

Pay attention to how your skin looks, feels and acts on a daily basis. By examining how it reacts to different skincare products, you will soon identify a pattern. Don’t forget, your skin type can change as you get older, and can be affected by hormones, medication and diet, so keep a regular check on it and come in and see us if you’re not sure.
